Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems focus on all complex business process such as marketing, sales, production, customer service, human resource, accounting, etc.
An ERP implementation process starts by selecting the right software for the organisation selecting the right one based on their specific requirements. A project management team is assigned to successfully install the software.
A successful ERP implementation process involves the following steps:
- Planning: a successful ERP implementation process starts with a proper project plan. Project plans involve assigning a project team that will take care of the implementation process. Each team member will be responsible for specific tasks that will lead to the success of the project plan. The team decides the scope and objective of the project plan based on the specific requirements.
- Budgeting: the team should identify the real cost involved in implementing the software to include hardware, training, development and software. The project management team should also consider the indirect cost such as data migration and team member`s salary.
- Developing: the project team needs to review and provide training on every aspect of ERP software and develop and document standard operating procedures.
- Analysing & Migrating: team members should analyse all the business data and decide the data that needs to be migrated. They should segment the data into logical tables, data should then be migrated to the ERP system and checked for accuracy.
- Training: User Acceptance Training (UAT) is very important in a successful implementation process. Project team members should develop effective user training plan to achieve it. Team members should be assigned to run the inhouse-training.
- Testing: team members should test all the migrated data for its accuracy and check if everything is working correctly.
- Going Live: the final step is going live and providing constant support. The project team needs to closely watch the performance and accuracy of the software during the initial days. They need to make sure that they are closely observing and troubleshooting if any problems arise.
